About Us
The Commonwealth of Kentucky has a disproportionately high incidence of lung cancer. Mortality from lung cancer exceeds the deaths from breast, colorectal, prostate and pancreatic cancer, combined. In an effort to improve survival of Kentuckians with lung cancer, the Kentucky General Assembly of 2000 established the Lung Cancer Research Fund (the Fund). This 20-year initiative encourages the combined efforts of the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville in lung cancer translation and clinical research, early detection and epidemiology initiatives, and the development of the Kentucky Clinical Trials Network. KCTN is a statewide alliance of physicians conducting clinical trials in the prevention, early detection, and treatment of lung cancer. The Network conducts investigator-initiated and industry sponsored trials. Read more...
